Questions from you, answers for you

What are photovoltaics?

Photovoltaics are devices that convert solar energy directly into electricity through the photoelectric effect. This conversion occurs through photovoltaic cells, which are made of semiconductor material, such as silicon, that generate electricity when exposed to sunlight. The electricity produced can be used immediately or stored in batteries for later use. Photovoltaic systems are a sustainable and renewable energy source that uses the sun to produce electricity.

How do I calculate how many photovoltaics I need?

The calculation and dimensioning of a system is influenced by many parameters such as:

- Orientation

- Geometric location

- Space availability

- Annual consumption that we want to cover

- Type of power supply

How much does a photovoltaic installation cost?

Investing in a photovoltaic system is a long-term move and must ALWAYS be accompanied by a tailor-made study.

What is the development of photovoltaic systems (PV) by self-producers with energy compensation (Net Metering)?

Self-producer PV deployment with energy offset, also known as "Net Metering", is a system that allows PV system owners to generate their own electricity and integrate it into the energy distributor's network.

With the Net Metering system, the electricity produced by self-generating photovoltaic systems is measured by a metering network and integrated into the distributor's network.

The amount of produced energy entering the grid is subtracted from the total energy consumption of the self-producer, and the owner only pays for the net consumption, i.e. the difference between the imported and exported energy.

This means that self-producers can reduce their electricity costs or cover them entirely, depending on the performance of their photovoltaic systems.

Net Metering promotes the development of renewable energy sources and energy self-sufficiency, while at the same time contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Where can PV systems be installed by self-producers with energy offset?

Self-generated photovoltaic (PV) systems with energy offset can be installed on various types of buildings and terrains, providing flexibility in their placement.

Some of the suitable places to install PV systems include:

- Building roofs

- Commercial premises

- Territories

- Farms

Photovoltaic installations can be adapted to various structures and environmental elements, providing opportunities for sustainable development and reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.

Who can install a self-generated PV system with energy compensation?

Natural persons (business or not), and legal persons of public and private law, who either own the space in which the PV system will be installed, or have the legal use of it (e.g. through leasing, free concession etc) and have secured the written consent of the site owner.

In the case of a PV system in a shared or jointly owned building space, the installation of one or more PV systems is permitted, each of which will be assigned to a single consumption meter.

When is the calculation done and when is the application of the energy offset between produced and consumed energy?

The measurement of the electricity produced by the PV system, as well as the incoming and outgoing electricity to and from the Grid is carried out simultaneously by DEDDIE, during the existing counting cycle that governs the self-producer's consumption facility.

The Supplier carries out the process of energy netting in the electricity settlement accounts, based on the DEDDIE counting data depending on the case-by-case counting cycle.

In the event that for any reason it is not possible to receive the indications on the date of the scheduled count, the netting will be done as soon as the next regular count is carried out.

What about adjustable charges?

The regulated charges are calculated as follows: The charge for ETMEAR is calculated based on the absorbed energy (A), on the corresponding unit charge.

The variable part of the System Usage Charge and the Network Usage Charge (energy charge) is calculated based on the energy absorbed, on the corresponding unit charge.

The charge for YKO is calculated based on the consumed energy (K=A+P-E), on the corresponding unit charge.

Is there a limit to the number of self-generation systems that can be installed by the same natural or legal person?

There is no restriction, as long as the PV systems are assigned to different consumption facilities, i.e. to different supply numbers and consumption meters.

Is there a power limit for the PV plant or storage system?

Within the framework of the Program the maximum eligible installed power of photovoltaic systems per installation within the framework of the Program to be financed is set at 10.8kW.

In the cases of a photovoltaic plant combined with a storage system, the storage system should have at least an installed capacity equal to the installed production capacity of the photovoltaic plant for one hour.

The maximum eligible capacity of the storage system per installation under the Program is set at 10.8kWh

What is net-billing?

Net-billing is a payment system applied to the production of photovoltaic energy. With this system, PV system owners get paid back for the energy they generate and may not use right away.

During periods when the PV system produces more energy than is required to meet the user's electrical needs, the excess energy is fed into the electricity grid.

In return, the system owner is paid back or credited for this excess generation, usually in the form of a credit to their electricity bill.

In other words, net-billing allows consumers to pay the portion of their electricity bill corresponding to the energy they consume, while at the same time receiving a fee or credit for the energy they produce through their PV system and supply to the grid.
